Enchanted Forest is very honoured to be featured in the new Scottish Government Design Guidance for Early Learning and Childcare/Out-of-School Care document, ‘Space to Grow’. The request for Enchanted Forest to be featured came from the Care Inspectorate, asking to undertake a case study of our Robroyston nursery design whereby we converted an unused office block into a state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor space for children. The focus for this design was natural light and access to outdoor play for our 2-5 year old children. In addition, our children at Inverkip were involved in the consultation for the new guidance whereby their opinions about nursery interiors and space were collated and shared. Great examples and requests from our children, our favourite being that they would like a swimming pool included in the nursery design! We will keep that in mind.
Mariessa Devlin, Managing Director added ‘We were delighted to be asked to showcase our Robroyston nursery in this new Scottish Government guidance. We spend a lot of time considering the designs of each nursery and have learned as we go in terms of what works well and what provides the best benefits to the children in our care. Our Inverkip children were fantastic and confidently worked with the Care Inspectorate to ensure their views were accounted for. A great experience for all involved and we are proud that our nurseries are being used as a case study across Scotland.
The new guidance will be used to inform new nursery providers on best practice to create amazing spaces for children to grow and provide inspiration to existing early years providers. The document can be found: http://www.gov.scot/Publications/2017/06/9822/downloads
