Now in its 13th year the Greenock Chamber of Commerce Bee’s Knees Awards 2016 was once again seeking to throw the spotlight on Inverclyde’s business talent, recognising and rewarding the endeavours of the leading lights in business – people who are working smarter than their competitors to create a business edge, contributing to the local economy and supporting the community across the region. This year Enchanted Forest entered three categories and are delighted to have been announced as finalists in each category they entered. The categories and finalists are:
Best Performing Large Business
Judges were looking for companies with more than 25 employees that demonstrate best practice and achievement across the board. This could be an exciting development, innovation or diversification – a business that has been adaptable through varying market conditions. Finalists: Enterprise Childcare, Ferguson Marine and Enchanted Forest.
Award Sponsors: Riverside Inverclyde
Excellence in Marketing and Communications
The judges in this category were looking for the organisation that could demonstrate the development of a successful marketing and communication strategy, which enables it to drive business growth. Finalists: Golden Casket, Quarriers and Enchanted Forest.
Award Sponsors: The Oak Mall Shopping Centre
Emerging Young Talent
Judges were looking for an inspirational individual aged 30 years or younger who is making significant contribution to the growth and development of the company that they work for. The judging panel were looking for a successful, outward looking individual who has helped grow or develop the company through a mixture of sound business techniques, use of latest technology or innovation, creativity or entrepreneurism.
In this category, we nominated Sarah Lowe our Enchanted Forest Inverkip Manager, who we felt was befitting for this award. Sarah presented with eight other short-listed young people. Enchanted Forest are proud that Sarah has reached the finals alongside young people from Caledonian MacBrayne and Holiday Inn Express.
Award Sponsors: Inverclyde Council
Enchanted Forest Managing Director, Mariessa Devlin commented “We are proud to have been announced as one of the Top Three finalists in each category that we entered this year. Awards like these do two things, they recognise the fantastic work that our staff do on a daily basis, but also give us an opportunity to learn from other businesses who are doing great work locally. We have very supportive families who are our customers, making our job all the easier, however, we are never complacent and realise that without them and their children, we have no ‘business’ to showcase. Fundamentally we love working with children and just love what we do.”
Nursery Manager, Sarah Lowe commented “My nomination was such a surprise and at Enchanted Forest nothing that we do is an individual effort so I am thankful for the support and opportunities that have been given to me, as well as the support of our staff, children and families. We are a team and I am delighted that we are being recognised in these awards. I feel honoured to have reached the top three in this Emerging Talent category, I love my job and I am glad this passion shone through when I was presenting to the judges.”
