World Book Day is a celebration! It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind and each of our nurseries participated on Thursday 3rd March 2016 to raise the profile of our love of books.
The main aim of World Book Day in the UK and Ireland is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own. Various activities were held including:
- Dressing Up as our favourite characters from books
- Activities using stories as the stimulus
- Bear hunts and ‘Gruffalo’ trails
- Book swaps
At Enchanted Forest we aim to foster an early love of books and many of our activities promote the use of stories and books. This work can be continued at home, here is a great website with helpful ideas: Get Ready To Read
